XPO (short for Exponential) is an independent energy company based in Bakersfield, CA, led by the former management team of Macpherson Oil Company. We have a combined 100+ years of experience to acquire, operate, and redevelop oil & gas assets with enhanced recovery technologies. The team at XPO Energy has experience in all aspects of the business and has demonstrated the ability to grow with internal cashflow and manage cyclical market conditions. We pride ourselves on digging into the details, pursue excellence, and create value for shareholders.

Our management team is very familiar with the Oil and Gas A&D process and regularly works with top notch investment bankers to stay engaged on the market transactions and opportunities. We have actively participated in several marketed transaction in California for past 5 years.

Founder | Subsurface Development
RUSHEET SHAH
Rusheet has 15 years of experience in field development planning, Steamfloods, Waterfloods with Horizontal wells, Asset valuation and financial modelling. He was VP of Engineering for Macpherson Oil Co. and has previously worked for few years in his family business as a process engineer.
Rusheet relocated to Bakersfield after receiving his Master’s in Petroleum Engineering form the University of Alaska at Fairbanks. He continues to give back to his home town (Pune, India) by helping underprivileged children receive their basic education.
In 2014, Rusheet was recognized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers and received the Outstanding Young Member Award for strides made in the industry.
Finance & Accounting | A&D
RUBIN KIM
Rubin has more than 20 years of experience in accounting and financial matters. Rubin was CFO for Macpherson Oil Co. and helped execute more than 300 Million of Capital projects while still delivering consistent free cash flow to shareholders.
He has previously served as Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager at Occidental Petroleum Corporation. He has also worked across a variety of industries with previous roles at the Walt Disney Company and KPMG, LLC.
Rubin is a proud Trojan, having graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master of Accounting.
Industry veteran | Operations and A&D
PHIL SORBET
Phil has most recently served as President and Chief Operating Officer for Macpherson Oil Co since 2015. A veteran in the industry, Phil has over 40 years of EOR experience with steam floods, water floods, off and on-shore oil and gas production.
He has served in executive roles at ERG Resources, Nations Petroleum, Orion California, LP and Nuevo Energy, overseeing administrative, technical and field operations. Prior to moving to California, Phil held positions at Torch Energy Advisors/Torch Operating Company in Texas and Placid Oil Company in Louisiana.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University.
Phil is a Bakersfield resident who enjoys exploring the natural beauty of Kern County’s outdoors with his family.

EDWARD OGREN
With over 40 years of domestic and international industry experience with drilling and workovers, facilities & construction, and production operations, Ed brings a wealth of experience to Exponential Energy and has spent the last 20 years in heavy oil operations.
Ed moved to California 15 years ago, when an opportunity opened up while working in Jakarta, Indonesia for Nations Petroleum. Ed joined Nations Petroleum in Bakersfield and moved on to work with California Resources Corporation, and most recently as Director of Operations for Macpherson Oil Co.
Ed has a Bachelor's in Mining Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and is originally from South Dakota.
